In the hands of the experts- Q&A with Charlotte-Anne Shipley

Q&A with Charlotte-Anne Shipley

Charlotte-Anne Shipley is a soprano who’s performed in high-profile events such as Puccini’s Tosca in Italy. We spent some rehearsal time with Charlotte to find out why Solgar plays such a pivotal role in her daily regime…

Why is keeping fit and healthy important to your job?

Well, singing is actually quite a physical activity, not that you’d think it like that, but especially in opera when you have to move around the stage as well, you have to make sure that you are really fit at all times and that everything is working correctly. Then obviously with the voice, I have to be very careful about my immune system and making sure that I’m in tiptop form, because obviously, I’m getting paid to sing so if I’m ill for any reason and can’t go on, that’s not a good way to start any evening.

Apart from eating healthily and taking supplements, what else do you do to keep healthy?

I generally go to the gym four times a week, I do four spinning classes a week, and then probably a yoga class or a swimming lesson or something that’s not so physical but keeps my breathing good. Of course, I have certain things that I do like breathing exercises and things before I sing as well.

Why did you choose Solgar?

I think there are so many vitamins and supplements on the market that it’s quite difficult to choose one but I’ve always seen Solgar as a really trustworthy brand. So rather than spend slightly less maybe on something that I’m not sure is going to work, I’d always rather put myself in the hands of the experts.
